Food is Culture.

“Food is culture,” once wrote Italian food historian Massimo Montanari. Understanding food–its relationship to the body, to the self and others, and to nature–serves as an analytical prism for understanding humanity and our health.

What is health and how do we get it through food?  Who shapes our intake of food – why and how?  These are the questions I have been asking myself my entire life. In my blog, “Embrace the Bitter,” I spend much time trying to understand food and our relationship to it. Check it out.
